Concert Katy Perry in Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam 2015

And I thought glowsticks went out of fashion in the late 90s, but the kids here at the Katy Perry concert proved me wrong. Yes, kids. Apparently Katy Perry is also hot amongst toddlers and pre-teens. To think I was worried I wouldn’t be able to see much due to my short length. Ha! The Dutch may be the tallest people in the world, but this I can handle.

Katy Perry’s started fashionably late. It wasn’t that much after the supposed starting time and definitely worth the wait. I haven’t seen a concert this entertaining since Pink. There wasn’t a dull moment. In between her outfit changes we were entertained with funny cat video’s and a nineties dance-off.

The show didn’t feel like 2 hours at all. Time flies when you’re having fun. The only thing I didn’t enjoy was the use of a live horse on stage. Creatures as sensitive as horses shouldn’t be amidst screaming people and loud music. He handled the busyness and his crazy overdressed costume well in the few minutes he was on stage.

Off course there’s always a chance of some rotten apples in between the crowd. Some drunk guys behind me kept screaming inappropriate stuff during quiet moments, like a beautiful serene guitar intermezzo and suddenly you here them singing a Dutch song on it (Het is een nacht). Katy clearly heard them as we were all standing close to her. She chose to ignore them, almost rolled her eyes, thought again and just turned her head to other way.

I was impressed by Katy’s life performance. She sings well, dances swell and knows how to interact with her audience. She shook hands with people quite often and pulled out people on stage. She even flew around the stadium on a swing to greet all the people high up and in the back of the building.
