Shrek, one of my favorites characters from the Dreamworks collection. And also my first dvd movie I ever owned. It has been one of my favorite movies since I first saw it.
However, the name Shrek has gotten an new meaning ever since there’s was a sheep wondering around in New Zealand, covered in kilo’s of wool. Somehow this daredevil Shrek avoided being shorn every spring and therefore being able to grow wool forever and ever. How he managed to avoid the sheering is a bit of a mystery. Although we know he was hiding in a cage, it makes me wonder whether this was accidental or that Shrek truly realised what was being done to his mates and therefore run and hid like a true freedom fighter. Shrek was found in 2004 carrying almost 25 kilo’s of wool. Only house sheep grow wool and not shed it like wild ones. He must have felt so cold after being shorn. With his story he soon became famous and travelled the new places to meet a whole bunch of politicians I’m sure he had no interest in whatsoever.
In 2011 his owner had to put him down after Shrek wasn’t doing well and there were no finances to treat his illness. So much for being famous, but penniless. However, I do believe Shrek the sheep has lived quite an awesome life filled with adventures we will never know anything about.
