Art is everywhere. Art can be in graffiti. I’m not talking about name tags, but more about graffiti that displays an image with meaning. That’s where the real graffiti art lies within for me.
In Amsterdam there are many places to find graffiti and the most visited are no doubt in the city center. However, if you by any chance end up on the west-side of Amsterdam, called Nieuw-West, more specifically Slotermeer, and you have a few minutes to spare the graffiti art here is worth seeing.
They make this simple neighborhood of Slotermeer spark a little and the walk through these streets more enjoyable. Not to forget that they give artist a chance to display their talent. I mean, what more can you ask for than a huge wall to paint on?
The art displayed beneath in this article is all found near each other. It would probably take you about 20-30 minutes to see all the graffiti works of this small area in Slotermeer (Nieuw-West). The works lie between Plein ’40-’45 and Bos en Lommerplein. It can be great to kill some time and even better its all for free.
